Inam Kaddoura Al-Mufti (February 26, 1929 – November 6, 2018) was a Jordanian politician, and the first Jordanian minister in the history of the Kingdom of Jordan, where she held the position of Minister of Social Development in the government of Abdul Hamid Sharaf.
its inception
The Mufti was born in the town of Safed in northern Palestine. She was raised and raised in the city of Nazareth in a well-off family. In 1950, she accompanied her husband to Britain, where she studied kindergarten, and after returning to Jordan, she opened the first kindergarten at that time.

She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Education and Psychology, then obtained a Higher Diploma in Education and Early Childhood and a Diploma in Education.

In 1956, the Mufti joined the Jordanian Radio team, and presented programs that focused on women, shedding light on their rights, and advocating for their various issues. Her fields of work followed: an educational director at the UNRWA, director of the Teachers’ Home in Nablus, founder of the Tira Institute for Teacher Training in Ramallah, and its director since the early sixties, and director of the Naour Institute, making her the first Jordanian woman to run a mixed institute.
She was chosen in 1977 to be responsible for the Women’s Department in the Ministry of Labor, and then a member of the National Consultative Council a year later, in 1978. Then she became the first Jordanian minister in the history of the Kingdom, when former Prime Minister Abdel Hamid Sharaf chose her to be Minister of Social Development in his newly formed government On December 19, 1979. After the departure of Abdul Hamid Sharaf, she completed her work in the ministry with two subsequent governments: the government of Qassem Al-Rimawi, and the government of Mudar Badran.
The Mufti established the National Aid Fund to help the poorest segment of the country. In 1984 she left the position, to occupy the position of ambassador in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and then quickly moved to the position of advisor to Queen Noor; Where the Nour Al Hussein Foundation was launched: the institution that was established in 1985 by a royal will.
The Mufti is one of the institutions of the Women’s Union, a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club, and the National Child Action Authority, in addition to her membership in a number of university boards of trustees. She also represented Jordan in the UNESCO International Committee for Education, Culture and Science.
