Atallah Al-Suhaimat or Atallah Pasha Al-Suhaimat (1875 – 28 July 1965) was an Arab and Jordanian leader, politician and statesman. He was born in the city of Karak, southern Jordan. Ibn Sheikh Suleiman Effendi al-Suhaymat, who was a national leader and a member of the first municipal council of the city of Karak during the era of the Ottoman Empire in the nineties of the nineteenth century.

Sheikh Atallah al-Saymat was the head of the Ghassanid clans in Jordan, and a famous leader during different periods of time in the following regions: Ottoman Syria, Transjordan, and later the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. He held many high positions, including the head of the Haqqania court in the Ottoman Empire and the head of the court of first instance in the “National Moab Government”. He participated in the development of the National Pact in 1928, and in 1929 he was a member of the first legislative council in the Emirate of Transjordan, representing Karak and Ma’an. Sheikh Al-Suhaimat was the Director of General Intelligence in the government of King Faisal I in Syria.

He is the father of MP Salah Al-Suhaimat, General Muhammad Al-Suhaimat and Ezz Al-Din Al-Suhaimat.

Death

Sheikh Al-Suhaimat died on July 28, 1965 and was buried in the tomb of the Prophet Noah in the city of Karak.
